How To Buy, Sell, And Trade Crypto Tokens On The Cardano (ADA) Network

[toc]

The Cardano Network is a decentralized proof-of-stake blockchain platform with smart contract support and uses its own native token ADA, just like the Ethereum blockchain. Cardano is often described as the Ethereum killer. However, Cardano also considers itself the updated version of Ethereum, which is currently the king of all altcoins, including ADA.

Cardano (ADA) The Supposed Ethereum Killer

It has been said that Cardano has anointed itself as a third-generation crypto platform which it regards to Ethereum as the second generation. Cardano has deemed itself fit to be a threat or competitor to Ethereum as they are both similar in so many ways, including the fact that Cardano (ADA) was created by one of the co-founders of Ethereum, Charles Hoskinson.

As Ethereum is having a hard time with high gas fees issues and slow transaction times, Cardano is all set up to take their share and make a name for themselves in the NFT, DeFI, and Stablecoin market. Cardano aims to be scalable and low-cost for users compared to Ethereum, its major competitor.

It enables owners of their native token ADA to help operate the network and vote on changes to the software roles. A lot of developers now use the Cardano Blockchain for Smart contracts and building decentralized applications (dApps).

Cardano Continues To Evolve: Hard Forked From Byron To Shelley

Cardano has been releasing its blockchain in stages with the aim of releasing better, cleaner, and more secure codes. They continued to evolve as the Cardano blockchain hard forked from Byron, a federated and static model, to Shelley, a more dynamic and decentralized model

A hard fork means or is described as a radical change in the blockchain, but in the case of Cardano, The blockchain hard fork was unique because instead of the blockchain radical change, it ensured a smooth transition from the old protocol to a new protocol while saving the history of the previous blocks. This means the Cardano blockchain contains the Byron blocks and after a certain transaction period, it adds the Shelley blocks.

Shelley was upgraded, and the Shelley protocol upgrade added a new feature that enabled different kinds of Smart contract use cases, which included the creation and transactions with multi-asset tokens. It also established support for the Voltaire voting mechanism. The Shelley protocol hard fork upgrade of March 2021 called “Mary” introduced native token and multi-asset support on the Cardano Blockchain.

Mary allows users to create their own tokens that run on the Cardano network natively, just like Cardano’s native token ADA. Similar to the ERC20 tokens that can be created and transacted on the Ethereum network, Native tokens will open up this same functionality to Cardano.

How Does Cardano (ADA) Work?

The Cardano (ADA) Blockchain is made up of two main components, which are the Cardano Computational Layer (CCL) and the Cardano Settlement Layer (CSL).

The Cardano Computational Layer (CCL):

The Cardano Computational Layer (CCL) consist of the Ouroboros consensus protocol and Proof of stake, which are the backbone of the Cardano blockchain. They help to run smart contracts, it also ensures compliance and security. Lastly, allow other key advanced features and functionalities such as identity recognition and blacklisting.

The Cardano Settlement Layer (CSL):

The Cardano Settlement Layer (CSL) serves as the accounting layer of the Cardano blockchain where its native token holders can send and receive their ADA immediately with minimal transaction fees.

Blockchain Industry Issues Cardano Aims To Solve

To create a secure voting mechanism for token holders.
To Separate accounting and computation layers.
To create an infinitely scalable consensus mechanism.
To use mathematics to provide a provably secure blockchain that is less susceptible to attacks.

Benefits And Advantages of Cardano (ADA) Blockchain

Decentralization: The Cardano network is designed to promote decentralization, and the founder of ADA Charles Hoskinson, is confident that the network would be 50 to 100 times more decentralized than Bitcoin.

High scalability: The recent Cardano Blockchain Vasil hard fork solves scalability issues as it introduced critical updates that streamline transaction processing, ultimately increasing the transactions per second (tps) Cardano’s blockchain can handle to significantly boost transaction processing speeds, unlike Ethereum.

Multilayer security measures: Cardano has a multilayer architecture that separates the computation layer from the accounting layer and also the Ouroboros proof of stake algorithm reduces the surface attack and ensures good security without falling short on decentralization.

Low gas fees: Unlike Ethereum, Cardano has low transaction or gas fees which makes it more appealing to users and developers.

Environmentally friendly ecosystem: Cardano is designed to be accessible to all persons, no matter their level of skill, from novices to advanced users.

Strong Community: A project is as strong as its community and Cardano has a strong community of active users, developers, researchers, and founders all work together to make the project a very good one.

How To Buy, Sell, And Trade Crypto Tokens On The Cardano (ADA) Network

Please note that the blockchain must be completely synced before you can use your wallet.

To create a new wallet, click on the “Create” button, give your wallet a “Name,” and Create your “Spending password”. You will need your spending password later to make transactions. It will also Encrypt your wallet file in the dataless directory.

After the setup, the “Recovery phase” page will pop up, and you will be given the 24-word secret phrase that you can use to recover your account in case your laptop is stolen or broken.

Ensure to write down your secret phrase and keep it in a safe place, after verifying your secret phrase your wallet is all set up.

Click on “Send” to send coins and Click on “Receive” to receive coins, select one of the automatic recipient addresses to receive your coins for other exchanges.

How To Use The Wallet Function On Minswap Instead Of Daedalus

Minswap is a multi-pool decentralized exchange (DEX) on Cardano (ADA) where you can swap tokens with minimal time, cost, and maximum ease.

The Minswap website is user-friendly and easy to trade on. Go to the website, click on “Trade,” then click on “Connect wallet.”

You might not see the DAEDALUS wallet there, so just create a “MinWallet” by clicking on it, then click on “New Wallet.” Copy your 24-word secret phrase down, write it down in a safe place, verify your secret phrase, create your MinWallet password, Now your MinWallet is ready to be used.

How To Buy ADA On Centralized Exchanges And Send To Your MinWallet

You need some ADA tokens in your wallet to make your transactions. You can buy your ADA from centralized exchanges (CEX) like ByBit, Binance, OKX, and MEXC, etc. In this case, we will use Binance.

Once the ADA is purchased, copy your MinWallet address, go to Binance, buy your ADA, and then go to “Withdraw.” Paste the MinWallet address you copied in the box to input your address, and Cardano will be automatically filled as your transfer network. Input the amount of ADA you want to transfer, then click on the “Withdraw” button.

How To Trade Crypto Tokens On MinSwap

To buy tokens, go to Coingecko and search for the token on the Cardano Blockchain Network you want to buy. Alternatively, you can go to the social media pages of the token you want to make sure you have the correct coin. Go back to MinSwap, click on the denominator token button, input the name of the token you want to buy, and select it.

Input the amount of ADA you want to swap for that token and swap it. If you want to sell, just switch their positions and swap.

Checking Prices Of Cardano-Based Tokens

Knowing how to check the price action of tokens when trading on blockchains such as Cardano is important for investors to make the best decisions. For the Cardano network, data trackers such as TapTools is the one-stop-shop for all things Cardano charts.

Just go to TapTools, click the Search bar, and input the name of the token you want to check. In this case, we’re using SUNDAE.

Choose the correct token and click on it, and TapTools will show you the price chart for that token. By using TapTools, you will be able to keep track of the price and follow how your token is doing, as shown below:

Interestingly, TapTools also has its own inbuilt decentralized exchange (DEX) for those who want to do everything in the same place. All you have to do is connect your wallet similarly to connecting to MinSwap as illustrated above, pick the token you want to swap to, enter the amount of ADA you want to swap, and click “Swap”. The DEX is visible on the right-hand side when you open the chart of a token.

Conclusion

Trading on the Cardano (ADA) network is quick and seamless due to its fast transaction speeds and low fees. However, like with any crypto trading, it does carry its own risk, which could be a partial or total loss of capital.

Analyst Predicts Bitcoin Consolidation, Eyes Long-Term Price Target Of $500,000

In the last day, Bitcoin (BTC) has notched up minor gains to the tune of 0.7%, pushing its market price above the $42,000 mark. Investors in the world’s leading cryptocurrency are likely encouraged by this recent price gain, following the 20% price decline that trailed the highly anticipated approval of the Bitcoin spot ETFs earlier in January.

Amidst many speculations on BTC’s next movement, popular crypto analyst Michaël van de Poppe has released a prediction that indicates Bitcoin’s movement may be restricted for the coming months. Albeit, he projects a massive price surge in future years.

Bitcoin Potential Consolidation Paves The Way For Altcoin Boom

In a post on X on January 27, van de Poppe shared an intriguing forecast on Bitcoin’s price trajectory, as he predicted the digital asset to soon enter a consolidation state.  According to the crypto analyst, Bitcoin is likely to trade between $37,000 – $48,000 for the next few months. If this prediction holds true, BTC could maintain its current upward trajectory and head for the $48,000 zone before experiencing any major pullback.

#Bitcoin dominance peaking a few months prior to the Bitcoin halving.

History repeating itself.

It has happened in 2016, 2020 and seems likely to happen in 2024 as well.

Once #Bitcoin bottoms out, I expect altcoins to start outperforming. pic.twitter.com/82VkuFr4Tq

— Michaël van de Poppe (@CryptoMichNL) January 20, 2024

Interestingly, van de Poppe also stated that a possible Bitcoin consolidation would lead to altcoins recording significant market gains. In a previous prediction, the crypto enthusiast shared a similar belief explaining that BTC is gradually approaching its peak market dominance with the Bitcoin halving event just a few months away.

Based on historical data from 2016 and 2020, when BTC attains its highest level of market dominance, the altcoins embark on a bullish run and even outperform the market leader. Michaël van de Poppe is projecting a similar occurrence in the coming months, accompanied by a BTC consolidation phase.

Analyst Remains Optimistic About Long-Term ETF Impact On BTC

In the same post on X on January 27, de Poppe also commented on the potential effects of the Bitcoin spot ETF on the asset’s price. The analyst expressed much confidence in the newly introduced exchange-traded products  (ETP) stating they had the potential to spur BTC to a market price of $300,000 to $500,000 in the coming years.

His prediction comes as the Bitcoin spot ETF market is currently witnessing a decline in outflows following a rather perturbing start which saw over $4.786 billion exit the novel market within its first 10 trading days.

On January 26 (trading 11), the BTC spot ETF recorded a new minimum outflow of $255.1 million, according to data from BitMEX Research. At the time of writing, total net flows in the ETF market stand at $759.4 million with Bitcoin trading at $42,088.  If de Poppe’s forecast proves true, investors in both markets could record massive profits in the coming years.

XRP Price Will See 1,000% Rally When ‘Black Cloud’ Dissolves, What This Means

The host of the ‘Discover Crypto’ YouTube channel has boldly claimed that the XRP price could surge by 1000% from its current price range. He highlighted the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) case against Ripple as one of the factors that could spark this price surge.

XRP Price Could Do A 10X When Ripple And SEC Settle

In a video posted on the YouTube channel, the analyst suggested that XRP would rise significantly once Ripple and the SEC finally settled. He described this long-running legal battle between both parties as a  “black cloud” that has continued to cause uncertainty in the XRP market.

He further noted how investors strongly dislike uncertainty, which could explain why they have continued to trade with caution rather than doubling down on their XRP investments. Meanwhile, the ‘Discover Crypto’ host believes that irrespective of how much Ripple ends up being fined, a settlement will no doubt be ‘positive news’ and the trigger for the price surge.

The crypto analyst went on to break down four other reasons why he believes that XRP’s price could surge by 1000%. First, he stated that a Ripple Initial Public Offering (IPO) could also trigger a significant rally for XRP. This price pump, he claims, will be facilitated by market makers and whales who would want to create a positive sentiment around the IPO launch.

To back up this point, he alleged that the biggest move for Bitcoin in 2021 wasn’t as a result of Bitcoin Halving or any market cycle but because of the Coinbase IPO. These same market makers are said to have pumped the flagship crypto’s price then.

Other Factors That Could Spark XRP’s Parabolic Move

The crypto analyst outlined crypto legislation as the third reason why XRP could rise exponentially from its current price levels. While admitting that the entire crypto market will benefit from this, he expects XRP to be one of the tokens that enjoy the most gains from this development.

Institutional adoption is also predicted to be another catalyst in XRP’s parabolic move. The ‘Discover Crypto’ host noted how the Spot Bitcoin ETFs have opened the doors to mainstream adoption. As such, he expects that more entities will want to add crypto tokens like XRP to their portfolio alongside their Bitcoin exposure.

The fifth factor that could spark the 1000% rally for XRP is the Bitcoin Halving. The crypto analyst predicts that all crypto tokens, including XRP, are going to pump post-halving. As such, he believes that buying XRP at $0.50 now is definitely a steal.

Here Are The Major Drivers Behind The Bitcoin Price Recovery Above $42,000

Bitcoin recently surged above $42,000, having traded below $40,000 for several days. This market recovery is believed to be a result of different factors, including recent revelations about the US economy

Macroeconomic Factors That Contributed To The Recent Bitcoin Surge

The personal income expenditures (PCE) price index, a leading inflation indicator, was released on January 26 and reported to have been lower than expectations. This suggests that inflation in the United States is cooling off, and experts predict that the Federal Reserve will likely reduce their aggressive monetary policies.

The Fed’s hawkish stance is known to have a negative effect on Bitcoin’s price and the broader crypto market. As such, this recent development is a positive one and is something that could have influenced investors to double down on their investments in the flagship cryptocurrency, thereby sparking a price surge.

Meanwhile, data from the US Treasury recently showed that the country has hit an all-time debt of $34,1 trillion. While this has raised concerns about the looming crash of the US dollar, it has also presented Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as a haven to hedge against the potential devaluation of the nation’s currency.

Interestingly, different financial analysts, including renowned economist Peter Schiff, have continued to predict the imminent crash of the US dollar. In light of this, finance author Robert Kiyosaki has urged everyone to invest in Bitcoin to avoid becoming poorer due to the government’s actions.

Another factor believed to have contributed to Bitcoin’s recent surge is the expiration of monthly BTC options contracts on Deribit. The expiry outcome more than likely played a crucial role in Bitcoin’s rally, considering that CryptoQuant CEO Ki Young Ju had pinpointed the derivatives market as responsible for Bitcoin’s recent decline.

GBTC’s Outflow Slows For The Fourth Consecutive Day

Grayscale’s GBTC saw an outflow of just $255.1 million on January 26, continuing a recent trend of reduced outflows from the fund. NewsBTC reported how the Bitcoin ETF had seen outflows of $515 million, $429 million, and $394 million on January 23, 24, and 25, respectively.

As noted by Bloomberg analyst James Seyffart, January 26 also happened to be the lowest outflow day for GBTC since converting to a Spot Bitcoin ETF. This development suggests that the fund’s investors may be cooling off on taking profits. It is also significant because Grayscale has contributed to the selling pressure that has plagued Bitcoin of late.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading at around $41,700, up over 4% in the last 24 hours according to data from CoinMarketCap.

Crypto Analyst Explains How XRP Could See Massive 4500% Jump To $27

Crypto analyst Egrag Crypto has once again reiterated his prediction that XRP will hit $27 soon. This time, he provided an analysis of how that will happen using XRP’s moving average as a point of reference.

How Price Will Rise To $27

Egrag suggested in an X (formerly Twitter) post that XRP could rise to $27 while analyzing the 21 Exponential Moving Average (EMA) on the monthly time frame. The analyst assessed price percentages that occur when XRP’s price is positioned either above or on the 21 EMA. Using this, he then predicted that the altcoin hitting $27 was on the cards.

From the accompanying chart that the crypto analyst shared, one could see that he was simply hinting at XRP replicating past percentage moves. Back in 2017, XRP had risen by over 4500%. In 2018, it rose by another 1000% and saw a 500% increase in 2021 after years of consolidation.

This isn’t the first time that Egrag is predicting that XRP will rise to $27. As part of his previous analysis of how XRP will rise to this price level, he stated that this was a “plausible target,” having the 2017 surge in mind when XRP saw a 61,000% gain in 280 days. Interestingly, Egrag’s recent chart shows that this price prediction could happen sometime this year.

XRP To $1.4 Before Then

In the meantime, Egrag predicts that XRP could rise to $1.4 between March and April. According to him, once that happens, it will pave the way for “swift progression to $5 and beyond.” $5 is another price level that the XRP community has its sights on, considering that the analyst had boldly claimed that the token will hit it in 90 days.

Meanwhile, the crypto analyst is also aware of the fact that XRP investors are growing anxious about the crypto token’s stagnant price action despite ultra-bullish predictions. He warned these individuals against letting their emotions get in the way as the outcome of these emotions is “suboptimal” for effective trading or investing in the crypto space.

To be successful in such a volatile market, Egrag claims that a strategic and disciplined approach is required. In the process, one is able to build mental fortitude. This is also critical as trading in the crypto space is “indeed a mental game, demanding robust, sharp, and resilient metal skills to navigate the dynamic and unpredictable nature of these markets.”

At the time of writing, XRP is trading at around $0.52, up over 3% in the last 24 hours, according to data from CoinMarketCap.

Key Requirements For Spot XRP ETF Approval Revealed Amidst 4500% Price Surge Target

Following Bitcoin’s spot exchange-traded fund (ETF) approval on January 11, market speculation has grown around the possibility of similar investment vehicles for major cryptocurrencies, including a spot XRP ETF. However, certain requirements and regulatory considerations must be met before such a development can occur.

Regulatory Prerequisites For Spot XRP ETF

FOX reporter Eleanor Terret clarifies the matter, stating that launching an XRP spot ETF would first require the establishment of a futures ETF

In the case of Bitcoin, the approval of spot ETFs was conditional upon the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) concluding that the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) Bitcoin futures market provided sufficient surveillance against fraud and manipulation.

Terret suggests that for XRP to have a spot ETF, a futures ETF must first be established, marking a step in the right direction.

Bloomberg ETF expert James Seyffart shares a similar sentiment, stating that he does not anticipate an XRP ETF launching this year. Seyffart cites the ongoing SEC case against Ripple as a factor influencing his stance, suggesting that an XRP ETF is more likely to emerge once the regulatory matter is resolved.

Seyffart adds that XRP futures trading on a regulated platform like the Chicago Mercantile Exchange would be a prerequisite for the SEC to consider any applications for a spot XRP ETF. Seyffart hints that an XRP futures ETF could also be advantageous in this context.

The SEC has maintained a cautious approach towards spot ETFs involving crypto assets due to concerns about potential market manipulation. Seyffart emphasizes that the availability of XRP futures trading on a regulated platform, such as the CME, would provide a favorable framework for the SEC’s consideration of a spot XRP ETF, especially given previous court rulings highlighting the correlation between futures and spot markets.

Amidst the ongoing speculation, blockchain firm Ripple seems to be preparing for potential involvement in the ETF space.

A recent job advertisement posted on Ripple’s website reveals their search for a Senior Manager in business Development, with a focus on institutional decentralized finance (DeFi). The role includes spearheading cryptocurrency-related ETF initiatives with internal trading teams and relevant partners.

XRP’s Future Potential – From $0.5299 To $27?

Crypto market analyst EGRAG crypto has conducted a comprehensive price analysis of the XRP token. Despite peaking in 2023, when the price reached a high of $0.9376 on July 13, the token has retraced more than 15% since the start of 2024 to a current trading price of $0.5299.

However, according to EGRAG, the 21 Exponential Moving Average (EMA) on the monthly time frame is a significant indicator for assessing XRP’s price movement.

The analysis focuses on three price levels: $3.5, $6.5, and $27. Based on previous instances (labeled A, B, and C), EGRAG extrapolates potential future price movements using the same percentage increases observed in the past.

The first potential scenario is a significant price surge to $27, representing a massive 4500% increase. This prediction is based on a similar percentage move observed in the past (from previous instance A), seen in the chart above.

The second scenario suggests a more conservative projection, with XRP potentially experiencing a solid 1000% increase to $6.5. This projection is based on historical patterns observed in previous instance B.

In the third scenario, EGRAG anticipates a significant 500% rise in XRP’s price, reaching $3.5. Based on previous instance C, this projection indicates a significant upward movement for the token.

Whether the XRP token can successfully surpass the upper resistance levels that have impeded its rise to the $0.600 mark since late December remains to be seen.

Additionally, the market eagerly awaits a catalyst that could prompt a breakthrough in XRP’s seven-month downtrend structure, potentially resulting in a price surge above $0.700.

Layer 1 and Layer 2: Addressing Scalability

The Ethereum mainnet functions as a Layer 1 blockchain, the base layer where all transactions are ultimately settled. To address the scalability bottlenecks on this primary layer, Layer 2 solutions have emerged as a promising approach. These solutions aim to offload a significant portion of transaction processing off-chain, resulting in increased throughput, faster confirmation times, and significantly reduced transaction costs.

A Platform For Innovation

Ethereum isn’t just a cryptocurrency platform; it’s a fertile ground for developers to build revolutionary decentralized applications (dApps). From DeFi protocols automating financial transactions to NFTs unlocking new ownership models, the possibilities are endless.

Gas and Gas Fees: Fueling Transactions

Within the Ethereum network, gas refers to the computational power required to execute transactions and smart contracts. Users pay gas fees to compensate miners for processing their transactions. Gas fees are denominated in ETH, Ethereum’s native cryptocurrency.

Fueling Decentralized Finance (DeFi)

As a breeding ground for DeFi protocols, Ethereum empowers users to take control of their finances. Borrow, lend, invest, and trade without dependence on intermediaries, fostering a more open and inclusive financial system.

Ecosystem And Adoption

Unlike centralized projects, Ethereum thrives on a vibrant and passionate community. Developers, miners, and users participate in its governance and evolution, ensuring its development remains transparent and aligned with the community’s needs. This growing ecosystem includes decentralized exchanges (DEXs), gaming applications, and more.

Exploring Layer 2 Scaling Solutions

Layer 2 scaling solutions offer a promising pathway to address the scalability challenges faced by the Ethereum mainnet. They operate as secondary layers built on top of the main blockchain, providing alternative mechanisms for transaction processing and data storage.

Here are some common types of Layer 2 solutions:

Sidechains: Independent blockchains that run in parallel with Ethereum, enabling faster and cheaper transactions.
Plasma Chains: Blockchains that leverage Ethereum for security and finality, offering scalability benefits through data offloading.
Optimistic Rollups: The technology employed by the Ethereum network for token transactions, which bundles multiple transactions off-chain and submits a summary to the mainnet for verification.

How To Get Started  on the Ethereum Network for ERC-20 Tokens.

To buy/sell ERC-20 Tokens, you’ll need a crypto wallet. There are several crypto wallets to choose from within the Ethereum network and, popular options include software wallets like MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Coinbase Wallet, Binance WAllet, etc.

If you are using a desktop computer, you can download Google Chrome and install the MetaMask Wallet Chrome extension. If you prefer using your mobile phone, you can download MetaMask wallet via Google Play or the iOS App Store.

Just make sure that you are downloading the official Chrome extension and mobile app by visiting MetaMask Wallet’s website.

Once you’ve registered and set up your wallet via the Google Chrome Extension or via the mobile app you downloaded, MetaMask wallet allows users to manage their cryptocurrency wallets and interact with decentralized applications (DApps) to execute transactions on supported blockchain networks directly from their browsers. (Write down your seed phrase on a piece of paper and keep it in a safe place!).

Now, you’ll need to connect and add Ethereum to your MetaMask wallet. You may refer to MetaMask support page for reference on their website.

Trading ERC-20 Tokens on the Ethereum Network.

In order to ERC-20 token trades on the Ethereum network, you will need to buy ETH as your base currency. You can buy ETH on centralized exchanges such as Binance, copy your wallet address from Metamask, and then send the ETH from Binance to your Metamask wallet.

You can also purchase ETH directly within the Metamask wallet using traditional payment methods such as credit or debit cards, etc.

Just click on the “Buy/Sell” button within Metamask to open the interface. Here, you can put how much ETH (or any other token) you want to buy in terms of dollar terms, pick your payment method, and then click “Buy”.

Note that to buy crypto directly within Metamask, you will need to provide info such as your country and state. However, it is a straightforward process that only takes a minute.

It’ll only take a couple of minutes at most for your ETH to arrive in your wallet. Once the ETH arrives, you are all set to begin trading ERC-20 tokens on the Ethereum network. So, head over to UniSwap to get started on your trading journey.

How To Trade ERC-20 Tokens On The Ethereum Network Using UniSwap

Uniswap is a decentralized exchange (DEX) protocol built on the Ethereum blockchain. It allows users to trade Ethereum-based tokens directly from their wallets without the need for intermediaries or traditional order books.

Uniswap offers users a simple and straightforward way to buy and sell a wide variety of tokens. Be sure you’re on the  Uniswap website to protect your wallet.

Polkadot Rally Incoming? Crypto Analyst Predicts 150% Price Surge For DOT

The Polkadot (DOT) token has witnessed significant downward pressure over the past few weeks. This negative performance was further exacerbated by the recent downturn of Bitcoin’s value, which tumbled below $40,000 over the past week.

However, the altcoin appears to be garnering momentum in the past few days, having rebounded positively from the $6 mark. A popular analyst on the X platform has put forward an exciting projection for DOT, saying the token looks set for a substantial upward move in the coming weeks.

Can Polkadot Reach $17 In This Cycle?

In a recent post on X, prominent crypto analyst Michael van de Poppe noted that the altcoins market is on the verge of a significant surge. Specifically, the crypto pundit singled out the Polkadot token as one of the assets to look out for.

According to Poppe’s post on X, DOT is approaching a significant support level in three days. The analyst identified the support zone between $5.60 and $6 while highlighting the need for this level to hold strong.

If the support level holds, Michael van de Poppe believes that Polkadot’s price is primed for a substantial run to the upside in the current cycle. And the crypto analyst put forward an ultimate $17 target for the cryptocurrency if a breakout does occur.

This potential price action would represent a massive 150% upswing from the current price point. Nevertheless, this would still be a long way from the token’s all-time high of $54.98

It is worth noting that Michael van de Poppe has also identified a price zone that will be integral to DOT’s possible run to $17. According to his analysis, there is significant resistance for the altcoin to overcome at around the $9.39 level.

DOT last hit this price point on Boxing Day. Resistance caused the coin’s value to collapse; since December 26, 2023, it has dropped by almost 30%.

DOT Price Overview?

As earlier inferred, Polkadot’s price has performed poorly since the turn of the year. According to data provided by CoinGecko, the cryptocurrency’s value has dipped by almost 24% in the past month.

As of this writing, the DOT price is $6.69, reflecting a 3.8% increase in the last 24 hours. However, the coin is still red on the weekly timeframe, with a 2.3% price slump over the past seven days.

Nonetheless, Polkadot ranks as the 13th-largest cryptocurrency, with a market capitalization of roughly $8.85 billion.

BlackRock’s IBIT Maintains Lead In BitcoETF Market, Crosses $2 Billion In Inflows

According to data from BitMEX Research, BlackRock’s Bitcoin spot ETF – IBIT –  has now set a new record, achieving a total net inflow of $2 billion. This feat allows IBIT to maintain its position as the best-performing fund of the bunch, following the approval of 11 Bitcoin spot ETFs by the US Securities and Exchange Commission on January 10.

BlackRock’s IBIT Maintains Dominance As Total Net Flows Reach $744.6 Million

On January 25, which marked the tenth trading day of the Bitcoin spot ETF market, BlackRock’s IBIT produced an unsurprising positive performance, notching $170.7 million in inflows. This gain allowed the investment fund to move into an exclusive list as the first Bitcoin spot ETF to amass $2 billion in market cap.

Commenting on this feat, Bloomberg analyst James Seyfarrt has credited the recent rise in BTC’s price as a major contributing factor. He said:

Yes, the #Bitcoin price has pushed $IBIT‘s assets beyond $2 billion. This plus likely new flows today should mean it will be above $2 billion at close.

Following the trading debut of BTC spot ETFs on January 11, IBIT quickly emerged as an investor’s favorite, recording the highest individual daily inflows of the market at $386 million on January 12. BlackRock’s BTC spot ETF has managed to retain this investors’ attention over the first two trading weeks, evidenced by its consistent positive performances, which has culminated in a total flow of $2.086 billion.

IBIT’s performance is closely followed by Fidelity’s FBTC, which recorded $101 million in inflows on January 25, moving its total flows to $1.825 billion. Meanwhile, other Bitcoin spot ETFs with notable performances include Bitwise’s BITB and Ark Invest’s ARKB, both of which boast individual cumulative AUMs of over half a billion dollars.

In other news, the outflows in Grayscale’s GBTC remain a constant trend; however, there has been a notable decline in selling volume over the last few days. At the time of writing, GBTC’s total outflow is valued at $4.786 billion. In comparison with a cumulative inflow of $5.53 billion, total flows in the Bitcoin spot ETF market stand at $744.6 million.

Bitcoin Price Overview

At press time, Bitcoin is currently trading at $41,725.19 following a 4.52% price gain in the past day, according to data from CoinMarketCap. This recent uptick is quite significant, considering the asset’s previous bearish form, marked by a 20% decline over the last two weeks which resulted in BTC’s dipping below $39,000.

Bitcoin’s price has been negatively affected by GBTC’s massive outflows; however, as the selling pressure appears to be decreasing, coupled with consistent positive performances of other ETFs, notably BlackRock’s IBIT, that crypto market leader could soon pull off a market recovery.

Ethereum Faces Market Tremors As Celsius Offloads $1 Billion in ETH

Ethereum (ETH) is about witnessing a potential sell-off worth $1 billion. This significant transaction is rooted in actions by Celsius, a bankrupt crypto lender. Reports from on-chain analyst Lookonchain indicate that Celsius initiated the transfer of 459,561 ETH, estimated to be worth around $1.014 billion, to various exchanges.

The breakdown of this large-scale distribution includes 297,454 ETH ($656.5 million) moved to Coinbase Prime, 146,507 ETH to Paxos Treasury, and smaller sums totaling 7,800 ETH ($17.2 million) sent to FalconX and Coinbase, respectively. Despite this transfer, Lookonchain disclosed that Celsius still maintains a reserve of 62,468 ETH, valued at roughly $139 million.

Celsius transferred 459,561 $ETH($1.014B) out 9 hrs ago.

297,454 $ETH($656.5M) → #CoinbasePrime
146,507 $ETH ($323.3M) → #PaxosTreasury
7,800 $ETH($17.2M) → #FalconX
7,800 $ETH($17.2M) → #Coinbase.

This significant transfer carries significant weight in the Ethereum market. It poses a challenge as it exerts considerable pressure on Ethereum’s price, with potential implications for broader market sentiment. Ethereum could see a significant plunge if the $1.014 billion worth of ETH is sold simultaneously.

Celsius’ Previous Ethereum Transactions

Celsius’ latest Ethereum transactions aren’t isolated events. LookonChain has previously spotted significant transfers linked to Celsius, including a deposit of 13,000 ETH ($30 million) on Coinbase and 2,200 ETH ($5 million) to FalconX.

While these moves indicate Celsius’ proactive strategy in managing its financial challenges, they also signal potential volatility for Ethereum’s market value.

Furthermore, Arkham Intelligence reports that between January 8 and January 12, Celsius liquidated over $125 million worth of Ethereum. The primary objective of these sales is to fulfill obligations to creditors.

Dune Analytics also highlighted the pattern of large-scale Ethereum redemptions, noting redemptions exceeding $1.6 billion. Since last year’s Shanghai update, this figure represents the highest Ethereum redemptions recorded.

As part of its bankruptcy proceedings, Celsius continues liquidating Ethereum holdings to pay off debts.

Ethereum’s Market Reaction

In the aftermath of Celsius’s Ethereum transactions, the asset has seen a nearly 10% decline in value over the past week, dropping from a high above $2,600 to around $2,186 yesterday. However, Ethereum has slightly recovered, rising by 2.2% in the past 24 hours, with a trading price of $2,258 at the time of writing.

Amid these market developments, Michael van de Poppe, a renowned crypto analyst, has identified three key factors that could signal a bullish phase for ETH. A significant element is Bitcoin’s market behavior, often setting the tone for altcoins.

Van de Poppe notes that Bitcoin’s indications of bottoming out usually precede rallies in altcoins, suggesting a potential upturn for Ethereum. He also emphasizes the increasing excitement around spot Ethereum ETFs, which could catalyze Ethereum’s market value in the coming weeks.

Additionally, Ethereum’s impending network upgrades, which aim to reduce transaction costs significantly, are expected to enhance the network’s efficiency and scalability, potentially boosting its market appeal.

The momentum towards $ETH is probably going to come in the next few weeks.
