{"id":6416,"date":"2022-08-26T20:01:31","date_gmt":"2022-08-27T00:01:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cryptocornercafe.com\/cafe\/?p=6416"},"modified":"2022-08-26T20:01:31","modified_gmt":"2022-08-27T00:01:31","slug":"bitcoin-mvrv-ratio-is-back-below-1-as-average-holder-slips-into-loss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/cryptocornercafe.com\/cafe\/2022\/08\/26\/bitcoin-mvrv-ratio-is-back-below-1-as-average-holder-slips-into-loss\/","title":{"rendered":"Bitcoin MVRV Ratio Is Back Below 1 As Average Holder Slips Into Loss"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On-chain data shows the Bitcoin MVRV ratio has declined below one recently as the average holder has now slipped back into a state of loss.<\/p>\n<p>Bitcoin MVRV Is Now Back In The Historical Bottom Region<\/p>\n<p>As pointed out by a post on <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoquant.com\/quicktake\/63082f56267b2b05b12f5400-Bitcoin-returned-to-undervalued-territory-again-Is-this-the-bottom\">CryptoQuant<\/a>, the BTC MVRV ratio has now come down into the region below \u201cone\u201d once again.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbtc.com\/news\/bitcoin\/bitcoin-mvrv-shows-top-isnt-in-yet-btc-still-has-room-to-grow\/\">Market Value to Realized Value<\/a>\u201d (or MVRV in short) ratio is an indicator that\u2019s calculated by dividing the market cap of Bitcoin with its realized cap.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbtc.com\/news\/bitcoin\/bitcoin-long-term-holders-own-80-realized-cap\/\">realized cap<\/a>\u201d measures the cap of BTC by weighting each coin in circulation with the price at which it was last moved (unlike the market cap, where all the coins are weighted against the same latest BTC value).<\/p>\n<p>When the value of the ratio is greater than one, it means the average holder is in profit right now and thus there is more incentive to sell in the market. Especially high values can suggest BTC may be overpriced right now.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, metric values less than the threshold suggest the overall market is carrying a loss right now as the realized cap is above the market cap. And a break above has usually meant the start of a new bull run.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, some people thought the indicator leaving this zone recently meant that the bear was coming to a close. However, since the indicator has declined back down, it\u2019s possible the coin hasn\u2019t left the bear market just yet.
